43% of adults in England find word-based health information too complex.
Add in numbers, and this rises to 61%.
Health Literacy Awareness training improves our understanding of the impact of low health literacy on service users, carers and services. It helps us think about how we can help people understand the information they need to manage their health.
People who went to the training said:
- “It has changed the way I think about conveying information to service users.”
- They “developed service user leaflets that were much easier to read”
- “It did improve my awareness of some of the obstacles patients might face”
- “It was delivered well and made the subject matter extra-engaging”
- It “provided compelling reasons for adapting practice”
- “The skills that I have learned in today's session have … given me a different outlook on how to address patients.”
